I don't mean to get in someone else's business, but the Phantom glitch is something you don't want to happen to a ship you're building.
It is caused by mostly memory capacity, so I've been told, there may be some other motives.
What happens, basically, is that when you're building a big ship, (by big I mean BIG) parts of the ship tend to get cut off or disappear while you're in the dry dock, this glitch mostly happens in Hansa mod. Which seems to eat up a lot of memory.
just search for my blog posts on it and look for the most recent stats in the comments(I never uncluttered the blog...)
And I don't usually withhold anything except building methods and REALLY new concepts and designs/technologies. I prefer showing my stats because it shows your enemies that you dont even CARE if they know about your ship, and its also a form of Shock and Awe.
I dont edit in the shipyard. I edit it within the game files since even with all the ways to get around the phantom glitch, narada still crashes the game when you try to load it in the shipyard for editing.
The phantom glitch can sometimes be worked around by learning how the camera position affects what gets cut off. As for editing ships within the game files, most of the really BIG users don't even practice that or know how beyond a few basic edits. It is very hard to do and not something that is passed out to lower-level users for many reasons including the potential to permanently damage your game, so it is best that you not inquire further.
